Vote for Chicago’s Christmas Tree (and win LED lights)
Would your perfect Christmas tree be a tall and stately spruce? Or a full and wintry beauty that’s needs to be rescued? Or a tree with a good story?
The city of Chicago has narrowed down its choices for its 2011 Christmas tree and is looking for help in picking a winner. You can view the three choices here, and read stories from the families that nominated their trees. One nominated their tree in honor of their grandmother, who lived in Chicago for 20 years and died last year. Another tree, which served over the years as a fort for kids, a geographic marker and an excellent provider of shade, is now threatening to uproot a house. And another, planted in 1966 when it was just 4 feet high, has simply grown too big for the yard.
Vote here before October 24, 2011 to help pick the winner. The family (and one winner drawn at random from the voters) will receive free LED Christmas lights and invitations to the official lighting ceremony
